Name: Gunnar Hydrik
PB: Ryu - Breath of Fire IV (Recolor)
Level: 25
Class: Assassin
Build: Combat
RP? NPC? RP (~secret alt~)
Misc:
Gunnar was raised by a traveling apothecary, moving from city to city too often to make solid friendships as a child. Even when Gunnar was able to settle for any length, his heterochromia was an easy mark for superstition and teasing, especially for a boy so sensitive. (Which was another easy mark for teasing.) He grew up reticent and attached to his father, ultimately leaving Gunnar with no one to turn to when his father was arrested under false charges and executed.
He was leaving flowers on his father's makeshift grave when he first met the assassins. They took Gunnar in and trained him in their ways, explaining that what happened to Gunnar's father would not have been if things were different, and that Gunnar could help make that difference. Gunnar dedicated himself to their cause, but was numbed by the tragedy, never absorbing viciousness that may have been expected of him. Nevertheless, he gets things done. Promptly and thoroughly. No task is too insignificant to be done well.
There is no joy in taking life for Gunnar. His methods are quick, clean, and painless, and his poisons can incapacitate without always needing to go for the kill. Like many assassins, he has hostility for religion and gods, and finds demons equally distasteful. He feels his fate is his own to carve, but those who choose to follow a religious path will be given the appropriate rites when they die. Unyielding in his own decisions, Gunnar has respect for conviction.
His emotions are quiet and his heart lacks passion. Smiles are rare, and anger rarer still. When speaking with others, Gunnar is prone to short, direct responses without elaboration. He treats his conversations like his tasks: get to the point and let it go once it's finished. Pragmatism and efficiency are prized above all else, something he doesn't always realize other people may not share.
Thanks to the time spent training under his father, Gunnar entered the assassins already familiar with the nature of herbs and ingredients. He specializes in poison-related skills, which helps him masquerade as an apothecary himself rather than advertise his assassin ties. Not so coincidentally, he brews fantastic herbal teas.
He's somewhat ambidextrous through dual-wield training, but naturally left handed.
